Sometimes the ultimate is already out there…

Once the last visitor has left the exhibit area, the last exhibitor has filled their packing crates, the temporary buildings – into which so much thought and time has been put – have been dismantled and all the sounds have gone quiet; few things and phenomena are as fleeting as exhibitions.

So when I decided to write about the Swedish Pavilion at l’Exposition internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes 1925, I prepared myself for a time-consuming and drawn-out research.

And, then! I found this!

All the work was already done! In Nationalmuseum’s book Swedish Grace in Paris 1925 Cilla Robach – associate professor of art history, focusing on 20th- and 21st-century craft and design and Head of the Collections Unit at Nationalmuseum – takes us on a journey through the amazing settings of the Paris exhibition from a Swedish perspective.
The book is full of photos of the magnificent buildings that made up the Swedish pavilion and all the wonderful and innovative furniture and objects that filled them.
