ETERNALLY OWNED IS BUT WHAT IS LOST
“My Sweet Chipe Girl”
Annika Sjögren
I saw a double rainbow yesterday,
gracefully leaning on the sky
Thought that, should mean so much more
But there was no treasure to be found
Not once, not twice
Only everyday disappointment crossed my way
You once decided this place was not for you
In a haze you found angels better suited;
lawyers, millionaires, disco-divas
Models in your own private dream
Could not find you anywhere
Missed my special all-star queen
I remember what you told me
when gremlins show their heads:
Just touch to dissolve
I remember what you told me;
when voices speak my name:
Just ignore and back away
I’ve tried to learn ease from you
So believe me when I say;
there is nobody following you
I met a man more than a decade ago,
it meant nothing at all
Is it true what they all say
If you lose one you have a hundred to gain
Eternally owned is but what’s lost
Oh my, oh my, what a lucky girl then am I
The people we have lost,
the ones not following through
Miserable souls, diseases made them castaways
Feeling lost, thinking losing all was winning’s cost,
Couldn’t endure so put an end to it all
It’s too early but way to late, our silent prayers went out in vain
I remember what you told me;
when gremlins show their heads:
Just touch to dissolve
I remember what you told me;
when voices speak my name:
Just ignore and back away
I’ve tried to learn peace from you
So see me when I say;
there is always somebody supporting you
Family of many generations degenerating, getting lost
Where’s the future,
where’s the hope, but I know
Darkness will not get its victory
Heartbeat following heartbeat will reign once again
Will find that hidden treasure at rainbow’s end
I remember what you told me;
when gremlins show their heads:
Just touch to dissolve
I remember what you told me;
when voices speak my name:
Just ignore and back away
I’ve tried to learn calm from you
So do hear me when I say;
always believe, always adore
because you know, I love you more
